I would like to know how you do your sketches before coloring? Do you use a grid, trace or freehand your sketches to get the accuracy?

Probably tracing. It's not cheating though; it's actually a legit art skill, so you can focus on the colors and values without worrying about accuracy
Hi just wondering what coloured pencils u use to make your portraits because im thinking of either getting polychromos or prismacolor pencils for Christmas but I can only choose one. Which one would u recommend for really realistic portraits?

Depends on the art style you are going for, prismacolor pencils are easier to blend, I would recommend these if you are starting out you can create realistic drawings with them as well, and I would recommend searching in TH-clips about Polychromos and prismacolor pencils before making any purchases, there are a lot of video of people testing them out and giving there opinion, I hope this helps 😊😊

Idk why but I don't get this smooth of a texture when I draw, I'm using the same colour pencil and the same paper as well but still I get little grainy look to my drawing. I don't understand how to get the smooth look.
